Collaboration

fitness video shoot

On Saturday, I got togther with a bunch of other fitness professional friends of mine and we shot some promo video for our friend, Susie Shina (middle in the gray top) of www.BeFitEnough.com.   The morning was hosted by Michelle Weinstein, President of www.OptimalNutritionInc.com.

All of the women have different fitness businesses.  Some of us are solopreneurs.  Some are facility owners or managers of health clubs.  The one thing that seemed so obvious was the air of collaboration.  We came together with hearts fully aligned to help Susie jam on her new, fab product in the works that will impact the lives of SO many women.

During the fitness video shoot a young woman came out of her townhouse to get her mail.  She was cute, fit and had her workout gear on.  Susie said that she was going to wait for the woman to get her mail, but that she was going to ask her if she wanted to join us.  We were all smiles while waiting for the interaction.

After the woman grabbed her mail she said, “What are you doing?” with a smile on her face.

“We’re shooting some fitness video for an instructional product,” excitedly replied Susie.

“Oh, I own an all-women’s facility,” piped the woman.  “Do you all have permission to shoot here?”  Her tone turned.

“Yes, we do, ” smiled Susie.  “Would you like to join us?”

“I think that would be a conflict of interest,” the woman replied. “And, the neighbors around here like things quiet.  Hey, good luck,” were her parting words as she turned on her heels.

Needless to say, it never crossed any of our minds that helping another fitness entrepreneur would do anything but build our connections and reach more people in the process….but, we have the spirit of collaboration.
